How Useful Is the In-Car Feature of IOS 7?

Apple has come out with its latest OS version, the iOS 7. This seems to be packed with a lot of new features and additional software that helps the user to function in a better manner. However, there seems to be one such particular feature that has seems to have caught the fancy of car owners though the idea of having an Apple kit in your car is still not clear. The feature of In-car multimedia has been designed to facilitate better navigation and more. Let us find out why it is of great advantage to have iOS 7 in your car.
The future of mobile technology
iOS 7 in the car gives a new meaning to mobile technology. We already are aware that most of the cars are equipped with iOS music controls. All this is possible with Bluetooth and USB. With the latest update, it seems that iOS will be displayed on the screen in your car.
You will be able to gain access to the content displayed including your own content streaming on the screen. Using iMessages, Maps and Siri would give you eyes-free comfort. This is what iOS 7 will bring your in your car.
What all can we expect?
According to Apple, the iOS in-Car facility will not be available before year 2014. However, the good news is that many well-known car manufacturers have supported Apple for this feature including Ferrari, Honda, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Chevrolet, Volvo, Hyundai, Infiniti, Vauxhall/Opel and Kia. This list does seem to be impressive as majority of car manufacturers seem to be supportive of the idea launched by Apple. However, there is yet another argument that only a few companies have been able to actually implement the idea and created UI compatible with digital devices. It is still questionable if this technology will be executed just the way that was envisioned by Apple.
Can it be integrated within a car?
Apple is way ahead in technology as we all know but the concept of replacing or reinventing the wheel seems farfetched. Additionally, this would mean multiple systems deployed within your car panel. It would only complicate driving and learning these would seem tiring. Other things include issues with personal and social data. Having systems in every car would mean each manufacturer would need to create brand specific app. A unified app working on every brand might be a simple solution then.
Apart from this if, you already are an iOS user then you too would want iOS system integrated in cars too. Other concerns are related to driver distraction and safety of the user while using the software.
In-car UI
The functionality and the way it is suppose to be incorporated within the car still needs to be considered by carmakers. Core systems need to be in place for supporting it and be able to drive and manage the controls. It seems that for these very reasons BMW has not yet given its consent or supported this idea by Apple.
