How To Publish A Magazine On 'Newsstand'

The iPad Publishing Platform, or more commonly known as the Newsstand appears on every single Apple device right there on the homescreen.
I'm sure you've seen it. You probably have downloaded multiple magazines that interest you.
It wasn't always this way though. Originally when smart devices came out Magazine Publishers took a huge hit. Sales declined because people were no longer purchasing and reading magazines anymore.
Consumers now had a new outlet to get their news: their smart device.
Only until recently magazine publishers had no outlet to tap into this growing base of customers. But, as you are probably aware of Apple now has the "Newsstand" on the home page of every single smart device including iPhone, iPad, and iTouch.
So that evokes the question of how you can tap into this many buyers and take advantage of all the functionality that the newsstand allows.
But first, what is a magcast?
Well, it's simple really. A magcast allows you to publish content directly to your customers, subscribers, or clients by way of a "written podcast".
That's right! Magcasts offer all the functionality of a website so you can host videos, mp3s or text based content in it. Magcasts were created to allow businesses, organizations, and individuals alike to take advantage of Apple's new media publishing platform they've called 'Newsstand'.
With a magcast you can deliver audio, written, or even video information direct to Apple devices. You can automatically distribute the latest issues of your magcast, send push notifications to the users devices, or include promo material inside of your magcast.
Image the kind of business you could generate through this value adding experience.
You can use 'newsstand' to build your list and make more recurring sales because Apple offers the option to integrate the consumers information with your email marketing service, and charge them a recurring or one-time fee. With newsstand you can also send customers push notifications.
With the guidelines to email marketing constantly changing push notifications are some of the most effective marketing mediums to take advantage of. If you have not researched magcasting yet you are leaving a lot of money on the table that your competitors will be scooping up in the near future.
See, magcasting is like Facebook back when it first started. It's gaining more and more traction with a growing user base; however, as a publisher it is relatively unknown still.
Don't you think you could use a magcast to easily position yourself in your industry, grab a huge amount of market share, advertise to more targeted consumers, and do it all by publishing one piece of content a month?
I inherently believe that magcasting is the new email marketing, except much more effective because you are giving your customer what they really want. There's a good reason that large companies have been driving their consumers to magazine subscriptions since after the great depression. The reason is because it is an effective medium of marketing and a low-barrier to entry that almost anyone has access to.
In fact, there are over 600 million registered buyers already who might want to take advantage of your magcast.
I hope this post was insightful and has opened up your eyes to the newest positioning tool that will help grow your business.
